Netflix Acquires Scanline VFX, A German Based Visual Effects Studio

Netflix has grown immensely in terms of popularity. While the initial purpose of the platform was to provide digital content to the masses, it has never shied away from producing films and TV series as well. To boost the platform further in terms of production, Netflix has made quite a few decisions. Recently, it has been announced that Netflix has acquired Scanline VFX, a Munich-based visual effects studio. It is considered to be a really good VFX studio, having produced visual effects for some successful shows such as “Stranger Things” and “Cowboy Bebop”. The amount has not been disclosed but a few details regarding the deal have come out. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2022, depending upon the regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

Scanline VFX was founded way back in 1989 and has been a reputed VFX studio in Germany. Having worked on shows such as “Stranger Things”, “Game Of Thrones” and a lot of Marvel and DC films, it has made a big mark for itself in the VFX department. Its upcoming projects are really interesting as well. Some of the anticipated films and shows such as “The Batman”, “Black Adam”, “Moonfall” are to get their visual effects from this company.

This step of Netflix is to boost its in-house production. Netflix has continued making big steps in this direction for the last couple of years. It acquired Albuquerque Studios last year and has planned to invest around $1 billion into the studio. Other than this, it has also purchased Night School Studio for an undisclosed amount.

Considering how Netflix is acquiring a lot of smaller companies, there’s a lot to come out from this platform. It has made a huge base of users and is looking to use that base for bigger prospects shortly!
